About Us
We moved from Japan to London, England, back in 1989, and spent the next 30 years or so in a whirlwind of work and raising our children. Once the kids were grown and our careers had settled down, we relocated in 2016 to the West Midlands, drawn by its pleasant environment and lower cost of living.
Since 2025, the two of us — husband (66) and wife (61) — have been splitting our time between Osaka and the West Midlands in England, roughly six months in each. Now that we've stepped back from our working years and settled into pension life, we're finally free to enjoy the things we never had time for.
On this site, we share stories from our everyday life, our travels, our approach to staying healthy, and the financial wisdom we've gathered for a richer retirement.

Exploring the Heart of Kansai
Based in Osaka, we travel throughout the Kansai region — Kyoto, Nara, Wakayama. We visit the historic ryokan and onsen we never had time for during our working years, and savour the regional cuisine of each place we visit.
Now that we have the time, we rediscover Japan slowly and deeply — its culture, its beauty, and its food.

During our summers in West Midlands, we take short holidays to nearby Europe — France, Spain, Mediterranean cruises. Living in the UK makes it wonderfully easy to hop across to the continent.
We also love tending our garden at home — roses, vegetables, and the quiet joy of watching things grow in the English seasons.
